How it Works

Yo! Payments aims to interconnect all mobile money providers and provide Yo! Payments account holders with a unified method of receiving payments from any customer subscribed to any mobile money service provider.



Mobile Money Transactions

Yo! Payments enables you to transfer money from your account to a mobile money account, as well as receive money from a mobile money account into your account. Note that you can only receive money from a mobile money account if you have a Business Account.

 

Internal Transactions

Yo! Payments offers the ability to transfer funds from your Account to the Account of another Yo! Payments user.

 

Fees

The following fees apply:

Inbound Mobile Money Transactions. For transactions involving the transfer of funds from a mobile money account holder, into your Yo! Payments account, a transaction fee of 3% of the value of the transaction is applied. Note: The mobile money account subscriber may be charged Standard Network Operator Pay-Bill transfer fees.

Outbound Mobile Money Transactions.  For transactions involving the transfer of funds from your Yo! Payments account into a mobile money account, a flat transaction fee of UGX250 per transaction is applied.  Note: Standard Network Operator Bulk Payment Charges may apply. (For payments to MTN Mobile Money Accounts, a bulk payment fee of UGX390 applies, for payments to Airtel Money Accounts, a bulk payment fee of UGX300 applies).

Bank Transfers.  For transactions involving transfer of funds from your Yo! Payments account into your bank account, standard Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) or SWIFT Telegraphic Transfer charges apply.

Internal Transfers. A fee of 0.5% per transaction applies for transfers from your account to the account of another Yo! Payments user.

All transaction fees, apart from Network Operator Charges, are indicated in your statement. You may view all transaction fees applied to your account by clicking "View Statement".

 

Account Types

Yo! Payments offers two account types namely Business Accounts and Personal Accounts. Business Accounts have all Yo! Payments features including API access and ability to receive payments from mobile money account holders. Business Accounts are for commercial use of Yo! Payments. Personal Accounts do not have API access and do not have the ability to receive payments from mobile money account holders. However Personal Accounts have all other features.
